Walking on Water
The River Seseke is a small-scale example of how the Ruhr landscape will be changing during the coming decades.
At the moment the 31 kilometre tributary is an open canal, but by 2010 it should have been transformed into a natural river once again. A project entitled “Walking on Water” links the engineering works with landscape art. A team of curators will be selecting artists to work with them during the reconstruction phase until 2010. They will thus have the opportunity to influence the future face of the river by artistic inventions during the building and redesign processes.
