A Night of Youth Culture

From July 3rd to 4th, the cities of the Ruhr metropolis belong to young people. They'll determine what's happening culturally and turn night into day - everywhere and any way possible. No limits will be imposed on their imagination, all doors will be open. The youth of the Ruhr simply has to choose, join, show and participate.
The evening and night will be filled with programme offerings for young people 12 and up. The motto is simple: Participate! The Night of Youth Culture does not just offer culture for youngsters but especially culture created by them.
Museums, parks, community centres, media workshops and industrial sites in all cities will be open to young people for parties, interactive events, night hikes, band competitions and anything else the bright youngsters can come up with. Kids and teens can play an active role in the programme and decide just what will be painted, composed or shaped in youth art schools; what will happen on theatre stages; which bands will perform at youth centres; which films will show at open air cinemas; what's played at music schools; what's read in libraries or performed at poetry slams.
The young people of the Ruhr metropolis will know best how to make the most of the night and there’s sure to be no lack of creative ideas.
The Night of Youth Culture is one of the pillars of the "platform youth culture". It is set up by the Youth Ministry of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and RUHR.2010 to put a spotlight on children and youth during the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010, along with SEE YOU, the Youth.Culture.Awards.Festival NRW & RUHR.2010 and other activities.
