With an annual revenue of over 25 billion euros, the Ruhr Metropolis and the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia are among the world's largest creative regions. The CREATIVE EUROPE convention and exhibition is geared towards positioning the state as an international meeting place for the creative industry.

The exhibition combines two concepts: taking a holistic approach to creativity and catering for all industries, it is an international flagship fair and information forum. At the same time, it is a convention providing a platform for international discussion on creativity and the development of the creative industry in the Ruhr Metropolis.

CREATIVE EUROPE thus offers a unique forum for exchanging know-how and best practices at European level. A high-calibre steering committee selects a maximum of three cities from each of the 27 member states of the EU. These cities then have the opportunity to present a showcase at the event. This gives cities and regions the chance to highlight their activities as creative locations and confront other European contenders for the title of the most creative and thus most attractive cities. They are also candidates for the Creative Policy Award, which is to be presented annually in future.
