Saxophonist Mihály Dresch was born in Budapest in 1955 and is one of Hungary's most established and well-known jazz musicians. In April, he and his quartet gave an outstanding concert at the "domicil" venue.

Contemporary jazz met the culture and traditional music of Hungary. In 2004 Dresch and his quartet released an album entitled "Straight Music", which was immediately selected as Album of the Year by Grammophon magazine. Crowned Musician of the Year in Hungary in 2005, Mihály Dresch has already performed with many of the stars of the international jazz scene - most notably Archie Shepp, with whom he released "Hungarian Bebop" in 2002. Since then, their festival appearances have caused a sensation.

Besides Dresch, the quartet comprises Miklós Lukács (cimbalom), István Baló (percussion) and Mátyás Szandai (double bass) - three instrumentalists who, like Dresch himself, are among Hungary's leading musicians.
