2010LAB.tv
The first experimental cultural web TV for Europe
Driving forward social change through culture is the ambitious aim of "2010lab", the virtual online laboratory of the Capital of Culture RUHR.2010. It is also the first bilingual cross-sector and multi-theme Web TV platform to combine and make visible art, culture, creativity and their protagonists in a Web2.0 community.
"2010lab" illuminates the issues of our time. It raises questions on the future of our society. The first European cultural Web TV will be experimenting with videos, blogs and podcasts to fashion a virtual creative city. "2010lab" is one of the digital creative workshops of the Capital of Culture at the interfaces of culture, creativity, economics and education in Europe. It is aimed at all areas of the creative economy, the purpose being to strengthen communication between them.
"2010lab" presents its multimedia content on six channels - from "Ruhr.Metropolis" and "Art. Education" to "Artists.Creative Minds" and "International News". Works and contributions from national and international artists and others involved in the creative economy give dynamism to the experiment. Nelson Mandela, Quentin Tarantino, Mikhail Gorbachev, David Bowie, the Dalai Lama and other personalities from the fields of art, culture, politics and business give an answer in interviews to the following question: "Why are you creative?"
In addition, the "2010lab" channels will also be showing films from local video artists that address current events and showcase the creative minds of the region from the eleven branches of the creative economy - from the games industry to the art market. The "2010lab" network of authors, bloggers, users, film makers, artists and partners is expanding daily. Since this is "user-generated culture", everyone can take part!
