2010LAB.tv
The first experimental cultural web TV for Europe
"2010LAB.tv" is the digital lab for the work and communication measures of the creative industry in the Ruhr Metropolis and Europe. A genuine innovation showcasing unique content, it encompasses interactive web TV, a blog and audiocasts. High-calibre authors and bloggers from all over Europe supply "2010LAB.tv" with content: live streams from conferences, on-site meetings with the stars of structural change and interviews with innovators. Mixed in with news and reports from Istanbul to Liverpool, and from between Dinslaken and Unna. And always on the pulse with what’s new in the creative economy, namely the media, music, film, gaming, design, art and research.
This virtual online lab illuminates the issues of our time. It highlights questions regarding the future of our society. It is one of the Capital of Culture's digital creative workshops at the interfaces of culture, creativity, economics and education in Europe. It is aimed at all sectors of the creative industry. What’s more, it strengthens communication among those sectors.
In addition, the "2010LAB.tv" channels will be showing films by local video artists that address current events. They showcase the region’s creative minds from all branches of the creative economy - from the games industry to the art market. The 2010LAB network of authors, bloggers, users, film-makers, artists and partners is expanding daily. After all, because this is "user-generated culture", everyone can take part!
The know-how and reports on "2010LAB.tv" will be generated with a focus on the creative industry of the future: where will innovations come into being? What are the key trends of tomorrow? And what do the predominant issues of the time mean to those working in the creative economy?
ByteFM
Internet radio station ByteFM, for example, offers one answer. The concept: musical quality. Indeed, the station has 500,000 listeners per month and has won the Grimme Online Award. ByteFM / Ruhr produces a dedicated channel for "2010LAB.tv" playing plenty of music from the region. It broadcasts 24 hours per day. Eighty music journalists and specialists from all over Germany present new and old albums, concerts, interviews and background information about the various scenes, bands, developments and contexts. Bands, club owners and journalists from the Ruhr region ensure a direct link between the Ruhr Metropolis and ByteFM’s schedule. It is anticipated that the studio in Bochum will remain in place after 2010, thereby offering a new platform to the local music scene.

Jazzatlas Ruhr
"Jazzatlas Ruhr" networks all jazz activities in the Ruhr Metropolis. In April 2009, a "Jazzatlas Ruhr", commissioned by RUHR.2010, was produced as a CD-ROM. This prototype was followed by the "Jazzatlas Ruhr" integrated in "2010LAB.tv". Encompassing interviews, music and a wealth of background information, the Atlas showcases the entire bandwidth of jazz in the Ruhr Metropolis. For those prepared to make the journey, there is an enormous diversity to be found in this region. "domicil" in Dortmund is one of the top 100 jazz clubs in the world, while one of the most important German jazz events is the Moers Festival. For a venue concerned primarily with classical music, the Philharmonie Essen offers an unparalleled range of jazz. The Jazz degree course at the Folkwang University in Essen ensures a creative and well-educated upcoming generation.

EUROPE IN SHORTS
"2010LAB.tv" also serves as the interface to EUROPE IN SHORTS, the first European online short film exhibition. Two new outstanding European short films have been presented here each week since February 2010, enabling www.2010LAB.tv to build up a unique online gallery showcasing the art of short-film-making in Europe. EUROPE IN SHORTS provides an insight into the various countries of Europe and their short-film scene. Artistic quality is the key criterion, and technical quality must be consistent with that artistic quality. The project sees itself as the basis of a cultural network aimed at facilitating contacts and communication within the European short-film scene and encouraging content-focused discussion in relation to the art of short-film production in Europe.
