German Developer Awards
The German Developer Awards are the most important prizes for German computer and console game developers. Since 2004, they have been presented annually to the country's top developers by the German entertainment software industry at the renowned and venerable Lichtburg cinema in Essen.
What is crucial for receiving an award is not the sales volume, however; rather, innovative design, outstanding graphics or a stirring soundtrack are some of the factors that make for a prize-winning game.
The awards are presented in more than 20 categoriĀes, for instance "Best German children's game" and "Best German young person's game". The body responsible for presenting the prizes is the Academy of the German Developer Awards, which currently has a membership of over 300 game developers from all over Germany, and the high-calibre jury panel of the German Developer Awards. However, the public can also vote to select the winners in the genre categories "Best German role-play game" or "Best German strategy game". The German Developer Awards are known throughout the country and are one of the most important events within the German entertainment software industry.
