RUHR.2010 will be represented no less than twice at the EXPO in Shanghai: in the German Pavilion and during NRW Week. The German Pavilion will include a showcase of the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010. The focal point of the stand will be the Dortmund U and its uses in the past and the future, serving to illustrate further Creative.Quarters.

"Moving Europe" will tell EXPO visitors about the idea behind the "European Capital of Culture", while "The Ruhr mythology" examines the industrial history of the Ruhr region. In conjunction with "Re-designing the Metropolis", short films about RUHR.2010 projects and how they shape our Capital of Culture year will be shown on nine monitors.

In China, and in Shanghai specifically, the development of creative quarters has increased greatly in recent years. Artists need the right environment in which to develop their ideas. During NRW Week, RUHR.2010 will build a Glass Creative.Quarter at the EXPO in Shanghai. Here four transparent containers will offer an extensive range of interactive entertainment: games, "2010LAB.tv", know-how and a portrait of the state capital, Düsseldorf. The Glass Creative.Quarter is designed to encourage German-Chinese exchange on social and urban development. Its motto: Better City - Better Life.
