Those who wanted to know what's currently happening on the Hungarian cultural scene didn't have to travel to the Danube or the Tisza. From spring to summer, the Rhine and the Ruhr came alive with contemporary Hungarian art and culture as part of the state-wide festival entitled SCENE HUNGARY IN NRW.

On 18 June 2010, PACT Zollverein in Essen played host to choreographer and dancer Eszter Salamon and "Magyar Táncok", which means "Hungarian dances". During this production, Salamon, who lives in Berlin, seeks out the roots of her passion for dancing and her family heritage. She explains the time-honoured movements, questioning and translating them into a contemporary context, and in so doing creates an absorbing show spun between modern dance and the dance tradition of an entire country.
