Lutz Förster
In his homage to Lutz Förster, Jérôme Bel focuses on the relationship between art and life and explores, together with the dancer, the interrelationship of role and person on the stage. Lutz Förster ventures a look back over his career, recalling his collaboration with stage icons Susanne Linke, Robert Wilson and Pina Bausch.
Jérôme Bel creates dance about dance. His choreographies and performances are a sort of "sleight of memory" that stand in sharp contrast with the fleeting nature of the medium. The dances "Véronique Doisneau", "Pichet Klunchun" and now "Lutz Förster" have so far been produced.
The themes are collaborative activity, the work of Pina Bausch and the difficult interplay of alienation and emancipation. This is a compelling prelude to the theatre and dance programme of RUHR.2010.
