The "Agents & Provocateurs" show involving 30 international artists demonstrated various provocative and subversive artistic strategies that were developed during the Communist era in Eastern Europe.
A number of visual artists exhibited their work from 14 May 2010 to 18 July 2010 in the "Agents & Provocateurs" media arts exhibition at the Hardware Medienkunstverein in Dortmund. Involving 30 international artists, the show demonstrated various provocative and subversive artistic strategies that were developed during the Communist era in Eastern Europe. Works by Hungarian artists including Ildikó Enyedi, Judit Kele and Tamás St. Auby posed the question: is provocation in a democracy still supportable or does it reproduce the models of action and thought that developed in an authoritarian political system? "Agents & Provocateurs" was on show in October 2009 in ICA - Dunaújváros, Hungary. The curators of the Dortmund exhibition were Beata Hock, Franciska Zólyom and Inke Arns.
