Art in public spaces
Art is a form of communication - one that needs to be observed, grappled with and have an impact. This may be especially true of art in public spaces, which at times provokes bewilderment, annoyance and smirking.
Art and culture in public spaces, particularly in their cities, is also something that the residents of Unna in the Ruhr and Ajka in Hungary will be dealing with through photography. This way they'll also be experiencing everyday life in the other country virtually first hand.
It's up to the individual photographers to determine just what constitutes art and culture in public spaces. Since it is said that the camera never lies, the pictures can be expected to be at times aesthetic, at others revealing or cheeky - and that familiar objects will be viewed from unusual angles.
