Mischa Kuball: 100 lights / 100 faces
A participatory project for RUHR.2010. Lights form the connective element between migration histories and between the experiences of 100 families from 100 nations, reflecting the multicultural reality of the Ruhr Metropolis. Mischa Kuball visits people in the region between Duisburg and Dortmund who have a variety of migration histories and social backgrounds; a photographer and film maker document the encounters. A lamp designed by Kuball is used as a symbol of the exchange.
It illuminates the private spaces and a "twin" of the lamp shows a photograph of the meeting - and is put on display. Private and public spaces, art and reality are intermeshed with one another. The symbolic lamps, the photographic portraits and multimedia documentation about the project are displayed in the art collection of the Ruhr University Bochum and in the Dortmund U. In addition, the results of this communicative process will be made available to an international audience from the autumn of this year on the www.2010LAB.tv website. The exhibition in the Ruhr University Bochum is part of the “Mapping the Region” project of the RuhrArtMuseums.
