Europe InTact.2010 - Music and Persons with Special Needs

Europe InTact.2010 stands for the inclusion of people with special needs and for enabling everyone to actively participate in cultural life. Europe InTact.2010 covers three areas: hands-on musical and creative activities, a concert series and a congress of experts. The event will be opened with a concert October 6, 2010, at Dortmund Technical University's Audimax.

      
Music laboratories

Musicians with and without special needs from all over Europe will be meeting with professional musicians in workshops to work on music using both traditional and experimental approaches. Wolfgang Stange (London), Keith Terry (San Francisco), Jean Kleeb (Marburg) and Jean Bentley(Glasgow) are among the artists taking part.
The results will be presented at a closing concert October 9, 2010, at Dortmund Technical University.

High-class concerts
Five concerts at five Dortmund sites will present musical productions of integrated musical groups from various European countries. Different musical styles will be represented by countries including Hungary, France, Poland and Scotland.

International congress - Inclusion: Cultural work and people with special needs
The integration of people with special needs is a regional, national and international issue. How this integration is made possible with and through music in different European countries will be discussed during the congress. People dealing with these subjects from a practical or theoretical perspective, politics and art, higher education and work, music and
society will be getting together at the event, which is accompanied by an exhibition on music and inclusiveness.

The following groups are invited to participate in Europe InTact.2010:

  • Musical groups in which people with and without special needs play music together or work interdisciplinary
  • Artists interested in supporting inclusive and interdisciplinary work with special needs people
  • Teachers who want to work in this area
  • University students and professors from related fields
  • Planners and organizers working in the rehabilitation area
