!SING Choral Academy

The Dortmund Choral Academy is one of the largest schools of singing of its kind in Europe. It is a beacon institution and involves over 1,000 active members who sing in more than 20 different choral ensembles.
The main aim of the Academy's work is to generate young people's enthusiasm for classical music and to promote choral and solo singing at a high level and up to a semi-professional standard. For the !SING project, RUHR.2010 initiated the collaboration between the Choral Academy and the foundation known as "An Instrument for Every Child". Through singing, this partnership seeks to grant children of primary-school age an extra door into the world of music. The pilot phase was launched in the spring at six music schools in the Ruhr Metropolis.
