Regional Tastes from the Ruhr and Pécs
Artist Arpad Dobriban from Düsseldorf is surveying seniors in the Ruhr Metropolis and in Pécs about the food of their youth, traditional dishes, recipes, ingredients and memorable meals that they have had in the past.
After all, if these rich cultural treasures are not preserved, then not only would recipes seasoned with the taste of foreign homelands and heritages be lost, but so too would the aesthetic and social facets of cooking and sharing a repast. Not only are all the recipes to be published, all the dishes will also be prepared for a series of culinary events, with talks about their particular characteristics and backgrounds. Rediscovered dishes from Pécs will be served in the Ruhr, while exalted dishes based on time-honoured Ruhr recipes will be plated up in Pécs.
