2010 will see the MELEZ project take to the road - or rather the track! So it's all aboard and full steam ahead for the MELEZ Festival train. Crossing borders and interweaving genres, artistic productions and campaigns in and around the train will reflect the cultural diversity of both the Ruhr Metropolis and Europe.

It will serve as a workshop, laboratory, studio and platform for high-calibre, thrilling and innovative regional and international creativity, with a vast array of music, exhibitions, dance and handicrafts. The train and the stations it calls at will be transformed into stages, concert halls and party venues. Travelling through the region, the wonderful, multicoloured MELEZ train will take on-board something from each city, at the same time contributing ideas at every stop. Ever louder and livelier, it will bring the people together, uniting established cultural venues with their urban sub-cultures and fusing the serious and the outlandish: the opera house and the punk-rock cellar, for instance. Graffiti artists, hip-hoppers and buskers will come face to face with fashion designers and writers; the passengers will become the audience, the audience part of the creative force behind the venture.

At the end of October 2010, creativity bursting from its doors, the train will return to Bochum, where the artistic output of its four-week journey around the Ruhr will culminate in an explosive grand finale in the city's Jahrhunderthalle.
