Under the auspices of the International Association for Hydrogen Energy (IAHE), the World Hydrogen Energy Conference has been regularly held on different continents at two-year intervals since 1976. The WHEC is the leading event in the field of hydrogen research and, in 2010, will put Germany, North Rhine-Westphalia and the Ruhr in the spotlight as regards public awareness of the issue.

The goal of WHEC2010 is to position hydrogen as an energy source as part of a climate-friendly energy industry. The conference will be attended by some 1,500 delegates from Germany and abroad, who will discuss topics ranging from research, technical development and commercialisation to political considerations and strategic analyses. Encompassing academic talks, debates and a programme for schoolchildren and students, the WHEC2010 will offer a unique forum for academics, researchers, politicians and the private sector.
