For the first time, the University of Duisburg-Essen will be organising a five-day Spring Academy in close cooperation with the cities of Duisburg and Essen under the banner "The Ruhr - Prospects for 2030". Events will be held in both cities.

The University's expertise in the focal area of the future of urban systems will provide fertile ground for interdisciplinary dialogue among academics and industry practitioners. They will participate in workshops aimed at developing and discussing long-term developmental opportunities and scenarios for the Ruhr region in the period leading up to 2030. Each workshop will be led by a professor from the University of Duisburg-Essen in cooperation with an external industry expert. The programme will kick off with lectures and a welcome evening. The workshop days on each campus will tie in with field trips in the Ruhr region. They will visit selected locations that serve as models for the development of the Ruhr, and the regional importance of these locations in terms of their conceptual make-up and sustainability will be scrutinised and evaluated. The Academy will close with a celebratory event and podium discussion. The interdisciplinary programme is open to all interested parties. Registration is required.
