At the dawn of the 21st century, our society is rocked by dramatic social, ecological, cultural and technological changes. The challenges posed by this rapidly moving process can only be met if we come up with and further develop new concepts and approaches and discuss them across all generations.
The Congress will take place November 2 - 6, 2010, in Essen and Hanover. It will provide internationally renowned experts in science, economics, politics and culture as well as young scientists with a forum to identify, analyze and find solutions for the most important challenges of the future.
The Congress Our Common Future will focus on the following subjects:
• Climate change
• World health and molecular medicine
• Communications technology and mobility
• "The factory of the future"
• Scientific developments and structural change
• Migration and integration
• Religion and values
• Human rights and global culture
The congress wants to generate new impulses and provide a forum for exchanging experiences through plenary sessions, workshops and panel discussions. Its goal is to contribute to a more sustainability-oriented approach by science, business and politics. The congress will follow up on issues raised as part of the World’s Fair Expo 2000 in Hanover.
