Coal, Cows, Concept Art
4 towns - 1 trail
The cultural metropolis goes green in a joint project by the cities of Gevelsberg, Schwelm, Ennepetal and Sprockhövel. Starting May 2010, visitors can explore the exciting arts, history and scenery of the Ruhr’s southeast corner by hiking and biking.
Along a loop road that meanders past historic industrial products and through scenic recreation areas, artists display their works under blue skies. Meadows become artists' studios, galleries and stages. The works of art created here will later be displayed in a catalogue.
The loop road connects the four participating cities. A specially designed brochure will explain the project's philosophy to outdoor art explorers of all ages and highlight the diverse artistic experiences that can be found along the roadside.
The Live-Open-Air-Art loop road will be opened May 7, 2010, in Ennepetal's Hülsenbeck Valley. Sprockhövel is in charge of the second stage, which starts May 14 near the Poststr. cycling path. On May 21, the show moves on to Haus Martfeld Park in Schwelm. The loop comes full circle starting May 28 at the Gevelsberg city gardens. The loop road will remain open throughout 2010 and beyond.
