The Schwanentorbrücke bridge in Duisburg, the Gasometer in Oberhausen, the Grillo-Theater in Essen and the Henrichenburg boat lift in Waltrop are just four of the numerous structural and architectural marvels of which the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010 can be proud.

These and over 250 other architecturally interesting buildings are now listed on the website. Brief descriptions provide information on the year of construction, the owners or clients and the special features of the structure. Those wishing to know more will also find links to take them to other sources.

The structure of the website makes searching easy for those unfamiliar with the area. A click on the RUHR.2010 logo opens a map showing all the cities of the metropolis. The search can also be restricted - either by selecting individual towns and eras or a desired style of building. Direct links to "Google Maps" also offer the possibility of retrieving a bird's eye view of the structure concerned, enabling its surroundings and developmental context to be more closely perused as well as revealing the location of the structure within the area layout. Similarly, users can retrieve routes and have the associated distances calculated.
