Women's Cultural Roadmap 2010

No "Local Heroes" week would be complete without local heroines! Female creatives active in the Ruhr metropolis will also be involved in each of the 53 "Local Heroes" weeks taking place in the Ruhr’s cities in 2010 - showing the whole spectrum of their creative energy across the Ruhr region.
The diverse offerings include readings, political satire, theatre, concerts and exhibitions by and starring female artists from the Ruhr - as well as art created by women that deals with the subject of the Ruhr metropolis.
In addition, women that were important in the development of the Ruhr will be showcased and documentations on "Women’s Life" and "Female Culture" in the region and its partner cities are being planned. The 53 events carried out by the "Local Heroines" are not mere performances: They invite women from the region and e.g. the European partner communities to join in a cultural exchange and to participate in shared artistic endeavours.
The equality officers of the 53 cities that make up the Ruhr metropolis are sponsoring this project, offering a female perspective of the adventure European Capital of Culture and sharpening the female profile of the Ruhr metropolis.
The roadmap of women’s culture at RUHR.2010 can be found in a special brochure to be published. It will give an overview of all relevant events and focuses the female perspective of the region.
