Ruhr Lit Cup 2010
Teams of authors from different nations take to the field
Football, art and football artistry will take centre stage in the city of Unna April 30 - May 2, 2010.
Masters of penmanship will prove their mettle on the football field in the European football championship of authors at the site of the Königsborner SV club. The German side will be led by team captain Albert Ostermaier; they'll face teams from Austria, England, Italy, Sweden, Turkey, Hungary and the Ruhr metropolis.
The written word will not be forgotten during the athletic competition: The evening before the preliminary round, authors will read from their works in pubs and restaurants. The semi-finals will be followed by a literary city tour of Unna and a midnight reading at the Centre for International Light Art. The final will take place Sunday, May 2, 2010 - and hopefully the winners will be able to get some rest that night as they're expected in local schools for readings to young audiences the next morning.
