High-ranking personalities from the worlds of politics and business, culture, science and sport will advise and support RUHR.2010 GmbH and the Ruhrgebiet on its path towards the status of European Capital of Culture 2010. The Board of Directors of RUHR.2010 GmbH decided on the composition of the 15 member board of trustees at its meeting on 8th August 2007.
The Board of Trustees consists of:
• Berthold Beitz, chair and managing director of the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation
• Oliver Bierhoff, manager of the German national football team
• Hans-Dietrich Genscher, the former Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany
• Adrienne Goehler, publicist and curator, former president of the Hamburg Academy of Art, former senator of the city of Berlin, and former curator of the Capital [of Germany] Cultural Fund
• Peter Gruss, President of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft
• Matthias Hartmann, artistic director of the Burgtheater Vienna
• Klaus-Dieter Lehmann, President of the Goethe Institute
• Jutta Limbach, former President of the Goethe Institute and former President of the Federal Constitution Court
• Liz Mohn, deputy chair of the board of directors of Bertelsmann Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH
• Hans-Gert Pöttering, former President of the European Parliament
• Jürgen Rüttgers, former Minister-President of the federal state of North Rhine Westphalia
• Rita Süssmuth, former President of the German Parliament
• Richard baron von Weizsäcker, former President of the Federal Republic of Germany
• Sönke Wortmann, film director and producer
