The venues of the Festival of Light Art

The concept of "Ruhrlights: Twilight Zone" is a festival of light art that takes place at seven different places along the Ruhr in shifted timings. Twelve artists will show 19 works of art in Duisburg, Mülheim/Ruhr, Essen, Hattingen, Bochum, Witten and Hagen/Dortmund. They will transform the varied Ruhr valley into an exciting route of light. The general map shows where the light art will stop off on which days:

The festival will be opened in Hagen. The group of artists Modulorbeat will install a swimming and sounding walk-in platform consisting of shining cubes on the Hengsteysee (Lake Hengstey). This interactive piece of art will wander down the Ruhr in the course of the festival and can then be viewed in Mülheim and in Duisburg for the closing event.

In the further course, impressing locations will be made visible by light and sound, like the Hardenstein Ruin in Witten or the radar dome of the Bochum Observatory high above the Ruhr River. Internationally renowned artists like Peter Kogler, Yves Netzhammer, Siegrun Appelt, Modulorbeat, Andreas M. Kaufmann, Tatzu Nishi, Christoph Hildebrand, Manuel Schroeder, Mader Stublic Wiermann, Xavier de Richemont and Klaus Obermaier quest locations having a particular atmosphere and will transform them to a resonant space of the new.
