Since autumn 2008 experienced professionals have been working with young amateurs on a dance theatre project covering continents, cultures, art forms, generations and revolutionary new ways of looking at music, dance and theatre. It is a co-operation of the towns Mülheim an der Ruhr, Duisburg and Oberhausen and directed by art@work and the "Duisburger Philharmoniker".
"Looking for Paradise" is the topic of this large-scale production featuring about 400 young people: breakdancers and bahan players from Belarus, a vocal ensemble from Finland and young musicians from Chile. And - from the Ruhr Metropolis - hip-hop performers, ballet and Turkish dancers, theatres, choirs, brass bands and youth orchestras. The lives and worlds of the young people involved might be very different. Nonetheless they are all standing on the threshold of adulthood. They want to find answers on topics like future, feeling at home or feeling like a stranger, they ask for values and ideals. The teenagers will set out together, in search for happiness. A strong international team will accompany them and strong partners will be by their side in the local regions.
