OLGA'S TWINS
On the second weekend in August there will be plenty of live and virtual music in the Olga park in Oberhausen at a free open air rock festival when bands from Oberhausen and its partner towns Middlesbrough and Carbonia will be joined by rock delegations from the Duisburg Twins project "Euro-Rock".
The show in the Olga park and the Middlesbrough Music-Live-Festival, which takes place in June, will be broadcast live on television on the internet as well as being shown on large cinema screens in each of the twin towns. Since the year 2000 "Olga’s Rock" has grown to become one of the most important free open-air dates on the German festival calendar. Bands like Tomte, Madsen and Donots have already appeared here. The Music Live Festival in Middlesbrough follows a very similar concept in promoting new bands. It is already helped groups like Razorlight, Kaiser Chiefs and Keane to break through to the big time The television broadcast also has a lot to do with promoting young talents. The Essen OK 43 (OK stands for Open Channel in German) will be using the production as an opportunity to train media designers. "OLGAS TWINS 2010" will be the start of a long-term cooperation between the twin festivals in Oberhausen and Middlesbrough.
