Fences
A fence is an enclosure which separates two areas permanently or temporarily by a boundary created by humans. But as opposed to a wall, a fence is normally removable and permeable - like youth culture. To be sure, young people’s culture is characterised by creating permanently new and fresh, flexible, globally understandable communication with each other beyond borders or believes of any kind.
By means of music and dance forms not constricted by any dogma, an apparant dissociation suddenly becomes a sound, original encounter. In 2010, young people from Israel, Berlin and the Ruhr Metropolis will meet in Hagen. Before, young people of Jewish, Christian and Islamic belief from Modi’in (Israel), Berlin-Zehlendorf and Hagen have examined in their hometowns the question of dissociating and associating elements. The project focuses on a common performance with complex choreographies, playing scenes and rhythmical sound collages. Three performances initially developed independently from each other will be further developed to form an overall dramaturgy that in the end will "fence" the stage in a positive way.
