This is what cultural life is like in our towns

Since the 4th September 2009 professional and amateur photographers from the three twin towns of Gladbeck (D), Alanya (TR) and Schwechat (A) have been taking part in a photo competition on the theme of "Integration - Migration - Life in urban spaces".
The vital feature here is that the photos reveal how individuals experience the mixture of cultures, whether this be in every day life, in private, in clubs and societies, in schools, universities, on the street or at work. A jury, including the renowned artist Regina Schmeken, will be selecting 15 photographs from each town to be presented in the foyer of the Stadtsparkasse in Gladbeck on the 7th May 2010. The photographers of the three most telling entries will be rewarded with a visit to the twin towns. In addition the Sparkasse Centre is planning to present their works on a large screen. In the run-up period to the project existing creative structures will be used to network the photographers in the participating towns. This means that the international competition will not only result in books of photography and a photo calendar, but also new sustainable links between the photographers over and beyond 2010.
