The Market. This theme leaves plenty of scope for the imagination, and international photographers will be shaping up to contend against each other in a competition in 2010. Individual interpretations on the theme are expressly desired.
The works will almost certainly cover the whole spectrum of possibilities: from school students swapping a sandwich for a wine gum during the break in the playground, via images of traditional town markets to internet dealings and the situation on regional job markets, all the way to international financial markets. As well as the competition and exhibition, workshops and seminars on the theme will be held in the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Dortmund (Faculty of Design, photography programme), the Ruhr area section of "Freelens e. V." and the Escuela de Arte in Oviedo. The aim is to promote an exchange of ideas and information amongst the photographers and establish a photo-journalist network over and beyond the competition in 2010.
