Between 1st July 2008 - 30th June 2009 an international women’s diary was written by 52 specially selected women in Witten and its four European twin towns. Each of the women took it in turns to describe the events in her life every day for a week. The upshot was an international contemporary document about women from different social classes, age groups, professions and life situations.

The participants range from a working woman to a politician, from a young woman to a senior citizen, from a single mum to a woman with family. This unique document, written by various women from west and east Germany, Russia, England and Poland, describes subjectively different - and yet comparable - impressions of life, work and society. In the "Local Heroes" week from 20th - 26th June 2010, the town of Witten will present the collective chronicle of the year (200 pages) entitled "About Rose and other Days" and published in German and English. The 52 authors will be meeting up for the first time at the presentation. A concert given by the virtuoso accordion player, Lydie Auvray, will accompany the readings from the international chronicle on 22nd June 2010. At the same time an exhibition in the Witten town hall gallery will present portraits of the authors with selected diary notes and their basic philosophies of life.
