LiteraTour the Ruhr - four wordsmiths from the Ruhr Metropolis and four writers from their twin towns will be gathering inspiration from a journey through the Ruhr. From 17th to the 23rd April 2010, the four local writers, Petra Reski, Heinrich Peuckmann, Horst Hensel and Werner Streletz will be playing host to Robert Barnard from Leeds (GB), Jean-Paul Dekiss from Amiens (F), Dennis Nikolaevich Gutsko from Rostow am Don (RUS) and Agnieszka Topornicka from Wieliczka (PL).
They will be exploring the eastern part of the Ruhr Metropolis in pairs, whereby the local view of familiar features will be extended and enriched by the impartiality and curiosity of the guests. The impressions of the town, the countryside and the people will be turned into texts and presented to audiences at joint readings, before being published in a "European book on the Ruhr area". The writers will be encouraged to draw their inspiration from the following aspects of life in the area: structural transformation, migration, culture/cultural exchange, traditional/new forms of life, artistic influences on ways of life, the social situation of people in their particular areas, young and old people in the Ruhr area.
