European Rhythm for Children
Strong sense of rhythm for more common grounds: on World Children’s Day 2010 drum rhythms will, at high noon, whirl through all the 53 towns of the Ruhr Metropolis, their European twin towns and the partner Capitals of Culture Pécs and Istanbul. It’s elementary school kids who will play their self-made timpani - all at the same time and worldwide - for more tolerance among people and for cultural education at school.
Drumming is fun and drumming makes strong. Famous artists from all over the world send multilanguage greetings and child protecting messages to the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010. Later, in the art class, the kids stick their self-made multilanguage greeting messages to the instruments and use them as a plug for diversity, peace and friendship. With their little pieces of art, the kids motivate the adults to commit themselves more for their needs and rights, even beyond country borders. Pertaining to the European drum roll and beyond the year 2010, the project is meant to exchange messages, photos and movies via internet and to establish international networks between elementary schools.
