In 2010 organ pipes will be resounding all over the Ruhr for a whole year. There will be around 480 concerts at 70 locations and this will surely qualify the festival for an entry in the Guinness Book of Records.

The world’s largest organ festival will be attracting musicians from the Ruhr as well as organists from its twin towns, and especially young musicians and composers whose works will be performed for the first time. The local authority and church concerts in the region will now be networked ecumenically into a major festival. The concerts will not only highlight the particular venues, but also focus public attention on the queen of instruments. The Ruhr can boast of a whole treasury of historic masterpieces of organ construction. A book published by the Cologne Bachem Verlag will be launched onto the market in January 2010 to accompany the festival. It will present 60 of the most precious and beautiful organs in the Ruhr, complete with illustrations and historic facts.
