[Translate to Englisch:] … zum Beispiel singen, tanzen, malen. Die Menschen, die so manches können, sind Kinder, Jugendliche und Erwachsene aus Duisburg, Essen und Vilnius. Sie leisten mit ihren Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten, sozialen Erfahrungen und kulturellem Hintergrund ihren ganz eigenen Beitrag zum Thema "Leben in der Stadt" und werden das in drei gemeinsamen Aufführungen auf die Bühne bringen.
… like, for example, singing, dancing and painting. The people who can do such things are the children, young people and adults from Duisburg, Essen and Vilnius. Their cultural expressions, social experiences and backgrounds will all be contributing to the theme of "urban living" and merged to three common performances. Children and young people from Vilnius and turkish girls and women from Duisburg will be dancing and giving expression to their lust for life. The "Duisburg Werkkiste" will create living marionettes. Choirs from Vilnius, Essen and Duisburg will be singing hymns to "urban life". And girls from the Mabilda Centre in Duisburg-Marxloh will be taking part with pictures on the theme of "life, feelings, and culture in the town", and accompanying them with texts and rap poems jointly presented with the Poedra formation. From February 2010 the pictures by the girls can be seen in various locations in Duisburg and the surrounding neighbourhood, alongside pictures by women from Marxloh on the themes of "where I come from" and "I paint what I feel". On the initiative of the Duisburg choir, "StattChor" a connective network has been set up between people of different origins and languages. Oh yes, people CAN do things … the fact that they can, according to the Duisburg StattChor, "is for many people a completely new and even surprising experience that whets their appetite for more".
