Magical Mystery Ruhr – along the offbeat axis

"Imagine" is a three-part, cryptic, playful, experimental, and environmentally friendly joint project between the twin towns of Moers, Knowsley (GB) and Maisons-Alfort (F), all of which are closely linked to a nearby metropolitan area: Liverpool, Paris and the Ruhr. "Magical Mystery Ruhr Tour" is the name of an action week in which a busload of creative people from the three towns will be discovering an "alternative Ruhr area" along an axis of offbeat, scurrilous features.
Accompanied by a camera team they will be presenting actions and shows in unusual places, with or without an audience. Musicians, pictorial artists, actors and poets from the participating towns will be sending acoustic and written fragments on a journey. These fragments will then be picked up and worked on artistically, before being sent on once more. In this way an artistic domino effect will arise, and a new work be created at the end of the chain. In the third segment of the project, named "Meadows", children and young people will be using cast-off materials to create meadows full of flowers, sculptures and artistic objects. In this way they will be able to embellish public places. "Meadows" links creative aspects with social and environmental features like consumer behaviour, waste, recycling and environmental protection.
