Varieté de la Vie - Essen
Varieté de la Vie - Elements
Flying clubs, rubber bodies, and screamingly funny gags - as early as 2008 and 2009 young people began to work on a variety show as the central feature of an international young people’s meeting in Essen and its twin towns. In 2010 they will be joined for the first time by young people with basic artistic training from Mülheim an der Ruhr, Oberhausen, Duisburg, Bottrop and Dinslaken, not forgetting their twin towns.
At the end of the rehearsal period they will be presenting the results to the public at large. Workshops are offered in the areas of theatre, dance, acrobatics, juggling, theatre makeup, theatre design, clowning and costume design. Under the motto "Elements", the teenagers will be encouraged to enjoy the physical activity involved in trying out new creative skills. Professional artists will be supervising the 100 young people, aged between 16 and 20, who will be divided into internationally mixed groups during the workshop. Four hours a day of artistic studies are planned in the Essen Youth Centre. In order to give the young people on the workshop enough time to get to know each other, the programme will also include disco visits, shopping, a town rally, an international evening and a reception in the Essen Town Hall. This will all culminate in a farewell Variety Gala on the 31st July 2010 in the Ringlokschuppen in Mülheim an der Ruhr.
