The european young People's Forum 2010

Two days of young people’s rock and politics on a spoil tip. 120 young people from six European twin towns are expected to attend the five-day "European Young People’s Forum" in Dorsten. The rock event Dorstival will be taking place in September 2010 on the highly symbolic Hürfeld spoil tip.
A huge number of fledgling bands, including groups from twin towns, have announced that they will be taking part. At Dorsten, however, the participants will not only be rocking but also arguing and debating. At the "European Young People’s Forum" in Dorsten a representative from the European commission will be explaining youth policies in Europe and inviting questions and suggestions from the young people. Thus the Dorsten "European Young People’s Forum" will be the direct continuation of a European project entitled Youth in action - Dorsten/Newtownabbey/Rybnik enabling young people to get insights into democratic forms of participation and/or local policymaking processes and encouraging people to commit themselves to voluntary service in the community on a national level. The results of the project will be presented to the audience at a podium discussion.
