The International Symposiumof Sculptors

Taking the theme of BONDING/ FUSION, wood, stone, iron and steel will be at the centre of an international meeting of sculptors at the "Rohrmeisterei" in Schwerte. Here the particular attraction is that people will be able to look over the shoulders of these established sculptors and watch them at work welding, cutting, designing and hewing stone.
It will be possible to visit the artists every day between nine o’clock in the morning and five o’clock in the afternoon, and even "after work". The international exchange of artists, and their encounters with each other and their guests in the open workshop is intended to deepen the partnership between towns and create a long-lasting cultural and creative bond, as indicated by the title of the theme. The participating artists from the Ruhr Metropolis and their European twin towns will have just six days at their disposal to complete their works in this joint process of creation. The broadly-based theme of BONDING/FUSION has been consciously chosen to give the artists enough space to develop their own individual ideas for their works. The results might be abstract works. They might also be completely realistic. Two prizes will be given to the participating artists: one will be awarded by a jury and the other by the general public.
