What is more fun than to go on a discovery trip with friends and to play the XXL Ruhr Metropolis puzzle? Reaching into the Capital of Culture year, four Dortmund schools head for a search of puzzle parts showing and allowing for an experience of the structural change. What forms and colours is it made of and how many parts does it have? Do they develop four pictures at the same time?

These are the questions that the students, starting from form 8, have been exploring for three years. Their aim is to discover and to present change in the areas of living and working, supply and cultural offers. They started with lessons at school where they invented the questions and found answers on several excursions. Doing research, the youngsters get to know partners of the same age throughout Europe, visit them and get impressions of their living conditions. Before, they make contact to a partner class via internet and prepare for the travel to go there. In 2010, all the classes will meet in Dortmund at a large congress and will enjoy the cultural diversity of the Ruhr Metropolis.
