Fair Ruhr Metropolis

As part of the European Capital of Culture year RUHR.2010, a large-scale initiative to fight exploitative child labour was launched. The network "Faire Kulturhauptstadt RUHR.2010" (Fair Capital of Culture RUHR.2010) has succeeded in bringing together as much as 47 cities of the Ruhr Metropolis. This is a decision to reject buying products, which result from exploitative child labour. / MORE

Anthony Cragg and "Things on the Mind"

Not many people succeed in turning such "Things" into reality and transforming them into art, but there are some - for instance, Anthony Cragg, one of the leading sculptors of our time. From February 24 to June 13, 2011 Museum Küppersmühle in Duisburg (MKM) is holding a retrospective exhibition of Cragg’s works of the last four decades. / MORE

Ruhr Museum extends special exhibitions

During the European Capital of Culture year, more than 40,000 visitors came to the Ruhr Museum at Zollverein to see the two photo exhibitions "Everything different again" and "The Black District". Due to the positive response, both exhibitions will be extended beyond February 16 and continue until September 4, 2011. / MORE

Peace Light of Religions now in Jerusalem

One of the TWINS-projects which have been realized in the context of the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010 is now being presented in Jerusalem. The Peace Light of Religions is a colourful bright luminary of the light painter Leo Lebendig from Germany. It is made up of a large number of white, translucid elements, half of which are symbols of world religions. / MORE

Let children rule

On Saturday, February 12, the new permanent exhibition "Children of the World" was opened at the children’s museum mondo mio! in Dortmund. This is the first exhibition on cultural diversity in Germany addressing families with children aged three to six years. The formation of Zukunftsakademie (Future Academy) NRW was announced on February 7, 2011.
