Peace Light of Religions now in Jerusalem
One of the TWINS-projects which have been realized in the context of the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010 is now being presented in Jerusalem. The Peace Light of Religions is a colourful bright luminary of the light painter Leo Lebendig from Germany. It is made up of a large number of white, translucid elements, half of which are symbols of world religions like Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Bahai, Buddhism and Hinduism.
Now the Peace Light of Religions shines in the Dormitio Church in Jerusalem, the location where the Virgin Mary has fallen asleep. The Basilica Dormitio of Benedictine Abbey is located in the Centre of Jerusalem on Mount Sion, a few steps away from the Wailing Wall, the Church of Resurrection, the Dome of the Rock and the al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount. The Peace Light of Religions invites to a peaceful acceptation of all differences between Jews, Christians and Muslims. Jerusalem is the first station on the pilgrim trail, which the Peace Light of Religions has started in Germany in the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010. It is going to Hiroshima in the hope of a worldwide peaceful coexistence without nuclear threat until 2020.
The Peace Light of Religions will be presented in Jerusalem until March 15, 2011.
