The three-quarters of a million level has been reached: the Exhibition "Out of this World – Wonders of the Solar System" in Oberhausen Gasometer has now counted its 750,000th visitor. It is thus by far the most successful exhibition that has so far been seen in Oberhausen’s landmark.
The exhibitions "Fire and Flame" and the "The Dream of Vision" which were also extended each attracted about 500,000 visitors, the installation "The Wall" by Christo and Jeanne-Claude managed very nearly 400,000.
The exhibition "Out of this World" opened in 2009 and continued as a project by RUHR.2010 with the "largest moon on Earth" as the highlight of the 100-metre high interior hence proves to be, besides "The Most Beautiful Museum in the World" and the Ruhr Museum at Zollverein Colliery, an outstanding crowd-puller within the Capital of Culture’s exhibition programme.
The German Aerospace Centre (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR)), the co-operation partner for "Out of this World" was very pleased. The enormous response provides impressive evidence of the great interest the public shows in astronomy and space travel themes.
